These are the last two level maps at the bottom of the Pirate’s Cove dungeon for C64 classic Legacy of the Ancients by Chuck and John Dougherty. Other levels: 1& 2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6. And, of course, the map of the Galactic Museum (part 1).
These are the maps for levels 1 and 2 for LOTA’s Pirate’s Cove. These work on a nice 15×15 grid.
As you’ve likely already discovered (or you’re a bit clairvoyant… but not quite enough) you reach this dungeon via the Pirate’s Treasure doorway in the Galactic Museum and sail due West from the town on the other side.
I’ve marked where all of the doors, chests and hit point boxes are. I have not mapped the traps (visible or hidden). (X)amine is your friend, brave adventurers. Note: if I have a door labeled with an (x) that means you should examine the space to find a hidden room or passage.
Once you locate the compass, this dungeon really is pretty easy. Fun, but easy.
You will want to load up on lots of Magic Flames, by the way, especially for the lower levels. There are 8 total levels. I’ll post the others here shortly.
I began to replay Electronic Arts’ beautiful and easily enjoyable RPG Legacy of the Ancients for the third time in my life today. I’ve played it all the way through twice before, once when I was in my teens (when the game was new) and once in my late twenties. The game is now over 25 years old and ready for its third play, obviously. I play my C64 games on original hardware, not emulators. I’m a patient person.
I drew this map of the interior of the Galactic Museum by hand for reference. I created a simple legend to help remember which portals were where.
Part of the gratification of these old games, in my opinion, is going through the paces of creating an accurate map. But if you’re impatient and want to get on with it, you may find this useful.
